Welcome to the web site of Luton Scouts.

Scouting in Luton is provided by over 20 Groups.  These Groups are organised into three Districts broadly covering the North, East and South/West parts of the town. (see the directory page for a complete list and the areas covered).   Luton Scouting also covers the villages of Caddington and Slip End.   Within these Groups there are over 2000 boys, girls and adults enjoying an active programme of camping, activities, badge work.  If you would like to be part of this success story, this site will enable you to make contact with the Group nearest to you from a map of the town.  To join us, just complete this form and we will get in touch with you.

We hope that you enjoy browsing this site and will find something useful here.

Lastest Scouting News from Luton

Scouting 2007 Centenary logoVisit our news page to find out about some of the recent events that Luton Scouts have been involved in.  2007 was the Centenary year since the first experimental Scout camp held on Brownsea Island and 2008 promises to be another exciting year for Luton Scouts.

During April Scouts took part in what has now become an annual event in the town centre to celebrate St George.  The following day saw a parade through the town centre with the salute being taken by the Mayor of Luton

In the St Georges Day Awards eight adults were recognised for their exceptional and distinguished service to the Scout movement over many years. In fact the total service from them adds up to almost 400 years - well done!

Luton Scouts have partnered with the owners of The Mall shopping centre to support their charity of the year - NOAH Enterprise, a local charity who provide invaluable support in the shape of food, clothing, medical care, counselling, training and access to employment opportunities to the area’s homeless and most disadvantage individuals.

They held a giant sponsored sleep-over in the Arndale Centre in December 2007 which raised over £2300 to support NOAH's excellent work and fits well with scouting traditions of camping and helping other people.  Read the full story here.

Scouting Profile

Scouting is a youth organisation which aims to provide young boys and girls (not all of the groups admit girls - see the directory entries) with the skills to develop into good citizens of the future.  The activities provided by Scouting nurture the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials of the young people.

All of the Groups are members the Scout Association

Site Profile

This site has been written with two purposes in mind.  Firstly it provides a means of communicating news about local Scouting and secondly it is intended to help you find a Scout Group near to you.  It also provides background information concerning the organisation of Scouting in the town.   It is not intended to be an introduction to Scouting itself (see the links page for other sites).  Local business men and women will be interested to read the article: "Scouting - Your future workforce" -  benefits to employers .
