FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE World Scout Jamboree 2007 Build UpLuton welcomes Scouts from Argentina
In the early hours of this morning four young Scout Leaders from Argentina arrived at Luton Airport on their way to the site of the World Scout Jamboree at Hylands Park in Essex. Scout Leaders from the town were on hand to greet them and provide hospitality for the visitors The team from Argentina will be spending longer than most people at the Jamboree site. They have volunteered to help build the infrastructure needed to support the 40,000 participants who will arrive at Hylands Park at the end of the month. This is a mammoth task with water pipes, electrical supplies, communications, marquees to be installed and erected on the site over the next three weeks creating the second largest town in Essex! Once the Jamboree is under way the team will then join the International Service Team who will ensure that the whole Jamboree runs smoothly and gives all of the participants a unique experience that they will want to remember for the rest of their lives. They will then work in the team that takes the complete infrastructure down again so that Hylands Park can return to everyday use. The four Scouts made their first contact through the Luton Scouts website asking for help to direct them from Luton to the Jamboree site. One of the girls in the group told us "We are really excited about the jamboree! I’m sure we are going to have a great time." We bet they will have the time of their lives.
