Double Bubble for Sundon Scouts

26th January 2008 --

All the members of the Sundon Scout Group were over the moon when it was announced that they had won both the Cub and Scout sections of the Five A Side football competition.

The competition is open to all the groups in the Icknield District, and this year six groups took part Blenheim, Manor, St. Joseph`s, Sundon, Sell`s 7th and Warden Hill.

The Event is very popular, and as only a few from each group can take part competition for places in the teams is very strong.

This years event was played out by 91 Cubs and Scouts and was held at the Lea Manor Sports Centre on Marsh Farm on Saturday 26th. January.

The games were very exciting and in the first match between Blenheim and Sundon all was square until the final minute when Sundon Scouts Scored. In another match 2 quick goals put Blenheim Cubs in the lead, and they eventually won the match 5 - 0.

Alan Wood the Group Scout Leader of Sell`s 7th. who was one of the referees commented that the whole competition was played in a good `Scouting Manor ` with no arguing and the standard of play was 1st. class. Most of the teams were mixed, the boys and girls putting up a very good show against the all boys teams.

Our thanks for a First Class afternoon go to Referees - John Worthington and Alan Wood and the Organiser David Suthurst for providing the District with a thrilling afternoon of Sport.
