History and Background

The Group was formed in 1925 as the 9th Luton (97th Bedfordshire) Scout Group.  It had its own headquarters which was built in 1958 adjacent to the church.   The Group is sponsored by St Andrew's church (Church of England) but is open to members of all faiths.  Indeed it's members are drawn from a wide cross section of the community.  The Group also enjoys good links with the Guide movement in the Biscot Mill area.  The group is temporarily closed at the moment due to the re-development of the site where it had its headquarters.

75th Anniversary celebrations

The year 2000 marked the 75th anniversary of the Group and a re-union weekend was held during July.  During the weekend current members of the Group camped at their headquarters.  On the Saturday, they took part in numerous scouting skills activities - some of which showed them typical Scout skills from previous generations.  In the evening there was a barbecue and social event at which many former members of the Group were present.
