St Augustines Scout Group was first registered on October 15th 1963 as the
48th Luton. It owns it's own headquarters which is adjacent to St. Augustine's
Church. The majority of the headquarters was originally the clubhouse of the South
Beds Golf Club and was carefully dismantled and re-erected on new foundations with the
kind help and assistance of Nevilles the Builders and Undertakers.
The Group is currently made up of a Beaver Scout Colony, a Cub Scout Pack
and a Scout Troop. As with most Scout Groups the boys come from a wide range of
social and cultural backgrounds drawn from a large catchment area including Limbury Meads,
Limbury, Runfold, part of Marsh Farm and Barton Hills.
Although the Group is not supported by, or affiliated to St. Augustines
Church, it does attend a church parade on the 3rd Sunday in the month along with the local
Rainbows, Brownies and Guide Units.
